Dancing

Last night John, Lily and I were watching Enchanted……AGAIN! At the end there is a ball and everyone dances so beautifully. Lily loves this part! John decided that he would get up and dance with Lily. He took her tiny feet and placed them on his and off they went……dancing as if the world didn’t exist. Lily loved it so much. It was a moment that I will hold in my memory for the rest of my life. My beautiful daughter and my wonderful, handsome husband dancing their cares away…

How often does Jesus ask me to dance with Him and I don’t notice, or I am too busy, or too tired or too whatever? Lily loves dancing along with her daddy, but there was such a difference when he put her on his feet and carried her. She just sang and laughed and did not think about anything other than loving her father. I think of the day I have had, a day of frustration and worry and trying to fix my life on my own. Why do we do that? God isn’t asking us to take the lead or choose the dance. All He is asking is that we take a moment and see that He is waiting to dance with us. Some of us, me, panic if we don’t know the steps. I need to know what dance, how many counts, what song and on and on and on….. God says, “Meagan, dance with me. Hop on my feet and enjoy being wonderfully loved and protected by your Father.” Today, join me will you? Join me in losing control and dying to self. Join me in recognizing that the Creator of the universe is politely waiting for me to hand over my dance card…

Today, let’s have a day that we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are dancing with Jesus…..
