Lily woke up at 5:45. Well, I say Lily, but it wasn’t really her. In her place was the grouchiest little bear in all the world. She was screaming, not crying, just screaming! And nothing was wrong, she was just crazy! John and I were laughing at one point because she ran to the fridge and hit it with both of her hands and just yelled at her own picture…..what in the world?! The part of her morning that really stuck out to me: She was running around with my contact case in one hand and my eyelash curler in the other. She ran to john and said, “Daddy help”. She wanted the lids off the case. So john knelt down to help her and she came unglued! She pushed him away and screamed NO NO NO NO NO! It was as if she wanted help desperately, but did not want to relinquish control. Sound familiar? It sure did to me! I want help in the worst way sometimes and I cry out “help daddy help” but when He offers to take my trouble from me and fix it, I panic. I can’t lose control. So I yell at Him, throw a fit and plop down in the kitchen floor and just stare at the ceiling out of pure frustration (yes, this is what my baby did this morning!)
So, my prayer for all of my beautiful sisters in Christ this day is - - keep asking for help, but remember when your Father steps in to take over - - - LET HIM! Don’t let your need for control let you miss the chance to get help from the ultimate Help Giver!!
