Things in DHS world are, well they are “DHSy”…..yes, that is an actual word! This morning began with Lily crying because she did not want me to leave, which really helps the mommy guilt! But my all-so wonderful husband brought her to town to visit, so that helped a lot! I had to shut my computer down and re-start this morning. As I did, I noticed that my desktop background slowly faded to black. This reminded me of a casting crowns song called, slow fade. The song is about how nothing (bad moods, pit dwelling etc) really happens as drastically as we think.
When we wake up in a bad mood, yell at our children and our husbands or give our co-workers dirty looks - - it is probably more than just a whim. All of our bad moods are usually stemming from something that happened an hour, a day or a week ago. We slowly fade into our pits. A pit doesn’t have to be huge to be a pit. It just has to separate you from the Creator. So, today if you woke up in a frump (for any other reason other than having the Mondays…) think back and ask yourself where the hurt happened, or where the frustration began. Think about why you were upset or angry and where that is coming from. Then let Jesus have it. Today, don’t let His death be in vain. If your strength is zero all you have to do is have a willing heart, Jesus will take it from there….you don’t have to do anything. Give Him your hurts, frustrations, anger, bitterness, sadness, and brokenness. He is waiting patiently to carry your burden. It may be a slow fade to darkness, but there is nothing slow about the lights coming on. There is a marvelous light waiting on you. Be bold, be brave, be broken enough to seek it - - this day, this moment. It is YOURS!
