Just a little closer

This morning, Lily Beth woke up in rare form! I tried to pick her up and she refused saying, “I need my daddy.” For those of you who don’t know Lil, this is not new! She and her daddy are one in the same….they really are the worlds greatest couple! So, she ran as fast as tiny legs would carry her and crawled up on the couch with John, who was asleep holding Miss Claire. Lily started by laying on his feet, then decided that wasn’t close enough. So she crawled up and laid right on top of him (by this time I had rescued Claire from being smothered by her big sister) I watched her as she scooted and scooted her way as close as she could get to his face. When it was all said and done, Lil was laying on her daddy’s chest with her tiny face snuggled up to his neck and her perfect hand resting on his face. And my sweet husband lay there with the biggest smile on his face!

Watching my sweet girl my heart grew larger in an instant. She was in such need of being close to her father. I began to wonder, when was the last time I was that determined to get close to my Heavenly Father? Yes, I need Him every moment of every day, but how often do I recognize that need and monopolize the opportunity to get as close as I can to His heart? God uses my daughter to teach me so many things. Today, He showed me that I need to run to Him very first thing in the morning. Before anything else I need to say, “I need my daddy…..right now.” And He assured me that He is ready and waiting to hold me for as long as I will let Him. Will you let Him hold you today?
