Garbage trucks
I witnessed something this morning that really got me thinking. As I drove down Lee Boulevard, I saw two garbage trucks in front of me. HUGE trucks. I looked up the way a little and saw that a third HUGE garbage truck was waiting his turn to get on the road. Now, most of us would drive passed not even thinking that we should slow and let someone in, after all I am so important that my day can’t be slowed down for anyone… This is not the thought of fellow garbage men. The two trucks, one in each lane, stopped. Yep, right there in the middle of traffic they stop, therein stopping all of us behind them. I was mesmerized. They stopped their journey and ours, to let their buddy in. It was the coolest thing – there wasn’t a moments hesitation. As I waited for traffic to go again, it occurred to me. How often do I stop the flow of life to let a sister or brother in Christ in. I see them all the time, waiting patiently to enter the craziness of life and yet I pass them by. So, today my prayer is that when I see someone in need of a friend to stop traffic for them, I will not hesitate. I along with other Christians will stand in the gap, stop traffic and pray my friend in, whoever that may be, even if it is a stranger.
