I am now officially on bed rest. This past Saturday, before I had seen my doctor, I went to join our church family at a movie in town. People kept asking, "meggs, what are you doing here?" A couple of people answered for me by saying, "it’s that red hair......she's stubborn." I smiled knowing that whether or not it is true, we red heads are pegged with the stubborn stigma. As I thought more and more about it, it occurred to me. The fact that I was running around town having contractions had nothing to do with the fact that I am red headed or stubborn. It had everything to do with the fact that I knew in my heart I was about to lose control. It was my last day to do exactly what I wanted before the doc said, "no more." I learned the last time to listen to family and friends and not cause too much trouble when people try to help me....
But isn't this most of us? Don’t we all love control in one way or another. Sure God, I will do what you ask, just give me a few more minutes, days, weeks or years to do as I please and then I will relinquish all control to you. Why do we do that? Why do we put off giving control to the only One who really knows what He is doing for a few more moments of life to ourselves? The truth is, when we give control to our Elohim, or Creator, we receive life at its best. We receive the directions and guidance. All we have to do is continually say, "yes, Lord. You have control.....it is out of my hands." Today, as I learn once again to allow people to help me, I am praying for all of the people who may be in need of bed rest....spiritual bed rest. God will regain control of your life one way or another. Psalm 23 says, "He makes me lie down in green pastures." He makes us. Today, relinquish control of all your situations, of all your life, to God. He is the author and finisher of your faith. Shouldn't He be the controller also.......
