This weekend, grandma and granddad were out of town. On Saturday, John went up to the house to borrow the tractor. Grandma and Granddad’s dogs followed John back to the house, as they follow the tractor everywhere. They spent the day at our house and when it got dark, they looked so afraid. They had loved being there all day, but stayed too long. It was dark and they didn’t know how to get home. When I got up on Sunday morning and went outside, they looked at me as if to say, “Will you show us the way home…” I was sad for them. And then I realized how many times I have been just like them……
I follow something that I think is great. I play and play and play and then I look up and it is dark. I have strayed so far from home and played so long that I forgot to keep track of where I was or more importantly where I came from. So, there I sit in the dark, alone and afraid. The play was fun while it lasted, but as always, night comes, the fun ends and we are left to figure out how in the world we got so far off of our path. But, wonderfully, we don’t have to wait until day light as the puppies did. We can call on our Savior any time, day or night. There is no difference to Him. We lay down our pride, call His name and He will show us the way home without hesitation. Jesus knows no darkness and He is just waiting for you to ask for His help. Let His light guide your way back home.
